The main role of the SBDC was to provide investment capital and business support to small, medium and micro enterprises (SMMEs). These beneficiary businesses could be a start-up, in the process of expansion, or one without access to capital markets. The consultants and mentors participating in the programme are carefully selected individuals who have proved themselves successful in their business and careers, and who support the endeavours of our Consulting and Mentorship Services to provide a service of a high standard and quality. These consultants and mentors are prepared to make time available to assist entrepreneurs to improve the efficiency, profitability and growth of their businesses. This added value service is available in all provinces and is supported by our company's national infrastructure and computerised database. Business counselling is a proven practice, worldwide, whereby business problems are diagnosed, expertise shared, solutions sought and guidance given. Consultants and mentors provide on-going technical assistance, counselling and support, based on experience, knowledge, skills and wisdom. Our portfolio boasts over 160 buildings across South Africa and is represented by the full spectrum of industrial, retail and commercial offerings specifically designed to benefit the SME. Rentals are set at market related levels for the locations in which the properties are situated. The properties are also located to provide wide public exposure. For example, we may develop a new industrial park where there is none in a specific area. Where clients or property equity partners require it, we will place properties for sale and manage the entire process.
